MOTO BORGOTARO

DOCUMENTARY

In Redhook, Brooklyn, one of the world’s best mechanics has a small, elite shop where he works on some of the most rare and expensive machines ever made. It’s nearly impossible to find, and you can only visit by appointment, and cameras of any kind are strictly prohibited, which already makes this film something that shouldn’t exist.

I met Peter Boggia of Moto Borgotaro purely by chance, but after seeing his world I knew I wanted to document it. After literally years of gaining his trust, he finally agreed to be put on film. With a small crew and one night to film, I took my shot. The result was a unique, authentic look inside this beautiful and strangely philosophical work that Peter has dedicated his life to. Celebrated as “a Tarantino-esque film that breaks the biographic short doc mold”, its purposeful and organically driven approach to redefine a genre is something I try to employ on most projects. Seen by millions, it has won a dozen film festivals, been celebrated as a Vimeo Staff Pick, and Jalopnik named it one of the “top ten automotive films of the year”. But the real prize was getting to know this unique individual.
